Brian Spencer

Key Accounts Manager

Brian joined BRI in 2009 as Director of Operations after working as a Research Specialist in Dr. Jason Shih’s laboratory at North Carolina State University.  With his broad experience in biotechnology, fermentation and manufacturing, Brian was an excellent choice to assume the newly created role of Key Accounts Manager, which provides technical support to BRI’s major customers.

While at NCSU, Brian helped build and maintain the university’s 150 L pilot scale fermentation system and worked extensively to develop the enzyme technology platform from benchtop to pilot scale. He also helped optimize processing conditions for what later became BRI’s Valkerase® product, an enzyme that   improves feather meal production, and conducted many of the early proof-of-concept poultry feeding trials for what became BRI’s Versazyme® product at his alma mater NC State University where he received his degree in Biology with a focus in Microbiology and Botany.
