Dr. Giles Shih, Ph.D., chairman and chief executive officer of BioResource International, Inc. (BRI), was recently appointed to the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors for the Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED), the largest and longest-running entrepreneurial network in the nation. During his one-year term on the Executive Committee, Dr. Shih will join eight other officers and members to provide guidance and support to further CED’s mission of helping entrepreneurial companies scale and grow in North Carolina. In addition to his Executive Committee appointment, Dr. Shih was also re-elected to serve another two-year term for the Board of Directors.
Established in 1984 as way to strengthen North Carolina’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, CED provides resources and services to propel companies into highly successful businesses. The newly-elected Board of Directors includes a mix of entrepreneurs, investors, and strategic partners from North Carolina. Entrepreneurs, including Dr. Shih, make up at least one third of the Board members, providing experience and wisdom from some of the most successful entrepreneurs in the state.
To learn how CED’s resources and entrepreneurial network has helped BRI grow from producing 1 kilogram of product every few months to making hundreds of tons of product each month, watch Dr. Shih’s story here.
