BioResource International, Inc. (BRI) CEO Giles Shih, Ph.D., was recently appointed to the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Agricultural & Life Sciences Research Foundation during the board’s semi-annual meeting held on April 20, 2016. Dr. Shih will serve on the board’s Technical Advisory Committee, which helps the foundation decide how its research funds will be used to support N.C. State University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Other board members include representatives from Syngenta, Bayer CropScience, BASF, and Dow AgroSciences, as well as industry group leaders involved in crop and food animal production.

The N.C. Agricultural and Life Sciences Research Foundation focuses to enhance research programs by seeking to increase public and private support for N.C. State University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS). This support creates new opportunities for CALS faculty, staff and students to innovate and pursue excellence in research by developing and sustaining critical partnerships that:

  • Enhance synergistic research among the agricultural and life sciences;
  • Foster urban and rural economic development and stewardship of natural resources; and
  • Broaden awareness for CALS research achievements.
