Giles Shih – Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Giles Shih co-founded BRI with his father Dr. Jason Shih in 1999 and is an experienced life science entrepreneur with real world experience in start-up ventures, technology licensing, SBIR grant management, venture capital financing, global business development, sales and marketing, and strategic planning.

Giles has successfully built and led cross-cultural and multi-functional teams in a principles-based, performance driven, dynamic business environment that creates and captures value for shareholders and stakeholders.

Upon receiving his undergraduate degree at Cornell University, Giles went on to complete his graduate training at North Carolina State University (MS in Microbiology) and Emory University (Ph.D. in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics), followed by an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.

Jeng-Jie Wang – Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer

Dr. Jeng-Jie “JJ” Wang, a team member since BRI’s inception, leads BRI’s biotechnology and animal nutrition research, product development, and fermentation production programs, in addition to overseeing business development in the Asian marketplace.

JJ has an undergraduate degree in Environmental Engineering from National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan and holds a M.S. degree and a Ph.D. in Microbiology from North Carolina State University.

Brian Spencer – Executive Manager of Sales

Brian joined BRI in 2009 as Director of Operations after working as a Research Specialist in Dr. Jason Shih’s laboratory at North Carolina State University and transitioned to the newly created role of Key Accounts Manager, which provides technical support to BRI’s major customers.

He also helped optimize processing conditions for what later became BRI’s Valkerase® product and conducted many of the early proof-of-concept poultry feeding trials for what became BRI’s Versazyme® product at his alma mater NC State University where he received his degree in Biology with a focus in Microbiology and Botany.

Nasser Odetallah – Vice President of Sales

Dr. Nasser Odetallah worked in Dr. Jason Shih’s lab as a postdoc student and joined BRI as a senior scientist in 2001 and then as a director of nutrition until late 2005. He moved to Novus International for some time, but returned to BRI as a consulting head for Sales and Marketing in October 2017. He was recently named VP of Sales in August 2018. Nasser has an undergraduate degree in Production and Management as well as a M.Sc. Degree in Animal Nutrition and Microbiology from the University of Jordan at Amman, Jordan. 

 

James Tyus – Technical Services Manager

Dr. James Tyus serves LATAM, South Asia, and Southeast Asia with a focus on animal feed additives, nutrition applications, and customer services, in addition to managing internal and collaborative research projects. James holds a M.Sc. in Animal Nutrition and Ph.D. with dual specialization in Agricultural Biotechnology and Molecular Biology, both from Tennessee State University.
