Research Associate

Position Summary: 

The primary focus of this position is to support the animal nutrition team and conduct research experiments to develop, produce, and characterize products following established protocols.  The employee will participate in related R&D projects and R&D’s support of business development and sales and marketing.

Essential Functions:

  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct research experiments and analyses to achieve the desired outcomes; consult a Scientist on experimental design and analysis as needed.
  • Mentor junior colleagues in conducting research.
  • Understand customer’s industry, processes, and how company’s products and research address their needs.
  • As a team member representing specific expertise, contribute to outcomes in R&D or cross-functional projects.
  • As a team member, establish expertise in and contribute to the advancement of specific R&D capability areas.
  • Identify opportunities and participate in continued improvement of product quality, processes, and methods.
  • Lead independent research projects to achieve a define goal.
  • Collect and organize scientific and other information and make it available and useful to appropriate stakeholders.

Education / Experience / Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in animal or poultry science, biology, microbiology, biochemistry, biotechnology or related field, or Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of relevant experience required
  • Demonstrated ability to independently conduct research.
  • Knowledge and experience in feed enzyme industry, research, and applications.
  • Knowledge and experience in statistical design and analysis of experiments.
  • Project management skills and experience.
  • Ability to research scientific literature and convert useful information into practice.
  • Familiarity with common biochemical and molecular biological techniques.

Knowledge of project management, and regulatory processes highly desired.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Travel:

No travel is expected for this position.
