Director of Research and Development

Durham, NC

Help us Feed the World! This is not just a buzzword but a passion and a mission.  We are looking for a Director of Research and Development to help us further this cause.  This opening is the result of our growth!

The primary focus of this position is to plan, organize and direct the research operations, quality, and analytical labs to provide optimal results.  This role will be responsible for managing and directing our research and development programs.  We anticipate you will rely upon extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish these goals.


Responsibilities & Principal Activities:

The Senior Director of Research & Development must have a solid scientific background and be a hands on manager who combines tactical and strategic thinking towards creating a continuous improvement culture with the ideal being a combination of:

  • Guiding, directing, and motivating subordinates including implementation of new procedures, policies, or programs.
  • Responsibilities also include: managing scientific operations, conducting standardized quantitative laboratory analyses, writing technical papers and proposal grants, developing new products based on scientific research results, experimental design.
  • In this role the use of scientific research methodology and the adherence to safety procedures is required. It is necessary for the employee to think creatively.
  • Directing maintaining and enhancing scientific standards, product development.
  • Lead and ensure that our business is carried out in accordance with our values and vision
  • Promoting and facilitating leading edge research
  • Create and maintain an environment that is conducive to intellectual and research growth.
  • To be responsible for facilitating and reporting operational metrics at monthly, quarterly and annual business reviews.
  • Assist in the development and execution of an annual operating plan
  • Support, mentor and train associates in a culture of open, respectful communication and open dialog to facilitate an innovative culture and world class facility
  • Responsible for planning and assisting in the design and execution of various continuous improvement events targeted toward improving the business’s performance by constantly eliminating waste, optimizing processes, and increasing productivity.
  • To provide leadership / mentoring / training and knowledge sharing to all levels of the organization on the use and practice of good manufacturing principles, continuous improvement methodologies and tools towards striving for a continuous improvement culture.
  • Assist in the development and execution of a 3 year strategic plan and direction


    Education / Qualifications / Background Requirements:

  • PhD in Biochemistry, biotechnology, or molecular biology. Additional training in nutrition a plus.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of related experience
  • 3-5 years prior technical management of a scientific team required.
  • Thorough knowledge with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Proven background of new product development
  • Candidate must be willing to travel as required.



Sr. Business Development Director

Durham, NC

Are you looking to further your business development career?  We are seeking a Senior Business Development Director to plan, establish, direct and grow the business development for our company.  Responsibilities include identifying and helping to develop strategic relationships with partners and potential customers as well as managing the product development process, marketing and sales functions.  This role will be an addition to our current business development team.

If you have 7 or more successful years’ experience in business development within the Biotechnology industry and meet the following skills/experience you would be a prime candidate for us:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or business with 7+ years’ experience in the field
  • Proven experience in channel or relationships sales at the highest level
  • Ability to establish relationships and close the deal
  • Familiarity with biotechnology, microbiology, and/or enzyme concepts, practices and procedures
  • Prior international experience is strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Master’s Degree in business or marketing preferred
