Fast 50 Award

BRI has been selected as a recipient of the Triangle Business Journal 2015 Fast 50 Award. This is the third time the business has received a Fast 50 award since its inception in 1999. The recipients are chosen based upon a formula that takes into account revenue growth and profitability over the preceding three years. These results are analyzed by PricewaterhouseCoopers, a partner of Fast 50. BRI is proud to be one of many growing businesses in the Triangle area.

BRI was named “Best Agricultural Biotechnology” company at the second annual Triangle Business Journal Life Sciences Awards event. The awards recognize both individuals and organizations that are breaking new ground in the life sciences. BRI CEO Giles Shih accepted the award on behalf of the BRI team at a luncheon held May 22 at the Umstead Hotel and Spa in Cary, N.C.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by the Triangle life sciences community and the Triangle Business Journal,” said BRI CEO Giles Shih.  “I am fortunate to lead a team of outstanding professionals who have worked together with a lot of grit and passion over the past several years to get BRI to this stage. But ultimately, it’s not about us – it’s about finding solutions that help farmers produce more food in a sustainable way to feed a growing world population.

In August 2012, BRI was recognized as one of the fastest-growing private companies in the United States by Inc. Magazine. In the magazine’s annual Inc. 500|5000 list, BRI was ranked #397 across all categories and #24 in the Business Products and Services category. To qualify for the Inc. 500 list in 2012, companies had to have achieved a minimum of 770% in sales growth over the past three years. BRI posted revenues of $12.7 million in 2011—achieving a revenue growth rate of 938% from 2008 to 2011.

At the 2012 US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce Annual CelebrAsian Conference held in Bethesda, MD, June 4-6, BRI was named a “Fast 50 Asian American Business” based on revenue growth over the past three years.

Dr. Giles Shih received the award from USPAACC National President & CEO Susan Au Allen, Conference Co-Chairs Ravi Saligram, OfficeMax CEO, and Kyle McSlarrow, Comcast/NBCUniversal Washington, DC President, and Asian American Business Co-Chair Ken Xie, Founder, President & CEO of Fortinet, Inc.

This recognition highlights companies that are creating positive growth in the national economy. “This annual program spotlights the success and contribution to the economic stability and job creation by Asian-American entrepreneurs around the country,” said Susan Au Allen, USPAACC National President and CEO.

2012 Pinnacle Award

For the second consecutive year, BRI was selected by the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce to receive the Pinnacle Award for “Steady Growth and Profitability”, which recognizes companies exhibiting increased revenues and profitability for the last three years.

The Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce has recognized the finest of the Triangle business community for over 25 years. The 2012 Pinnacle Business Awards were presented on May 22 at a ceremony in the Raleigh Convention Center that brought together hundreds of local business leaders and supporters.

BRI was honored as a North Carolina Company to Watch at an award ceremony held in Durham, N.C. on September 21, 2012. The event was hosted by CED (www.cednc.org) in partnership with the Edward Lowe Foundation (www.edwardlowe.org). Each year 25 “second-stage” companies are recognized for their innovative products, strong sales growth and new job creation.

Companies to Watch is a unique awards program that recognizes and celebrates the contribution, innovation and energy of diverse second-stage companies in a state or region. These companies work behind-the-scenes generating the bulk of new, sustainable jobs and are a powerful economic force underpinning the high quality of life most Americans enjoy. Created and managed by the Edward Lowe Foundation, Companies to Watch is one of the foundation’s initiatives to celebrate the achievements of second-stage companies.
