Technical Sales Manager

This position will lead the global launch and ongoing commercialization of products within the BRI portfolio. In this position, the individual will work strategically and tactically with domestic and international distribution partners and key customers along with internal BRI resources, to develop successful business and sales growth plans. In addition, this position will interface successfully with the manufacturing and R&D functions at BRI to ensure a coordinated production and development effort is maintained in support of identified and targeted products. The specific responsibilities of this position include:

  • To develop and implement a sales and marketing plan that leads to strong and profitable annual growth for targeted products and the entire BRI product portfolio as needed.
  • To lead the successful global launch of products including the targeting of distribution partners/channels, the development and execution of marketing plans and the measurement of sales metrics.
  • To support the sales and marketing requirements of international distributors including training, joint sales calls and developing/providing appropriate marketing and sales collateral.
  • Lead annual business planning and quarterly review process with each strategic distribution partner.
  • Develop and maintain product portfolio pricing strategy in conjunction with COO including account targets for revenue, margins and profits.
  • In conjunction with COO and Business Development Manager, develop list of target countries for geographic expansion products and proactively coordinate product registration efforts.
  • Maintain an accurate product sales forecast in conjunction with distribution partners and key customers and work collaboratively with COO on product production requirements.
  • Work with BRI’s R&D function to develop research needs and priorities.
  • Develop target list of key direct accounts and work to convert accounts to becoming active customers.
  • Identify and secure potential distribution partners.
  • Monitor competition and develop a competitive intelligence database.
  • Develop and maintain a value proposition for targeted products that includes a return for the end user, its value vs. competitive products and its benefit to BRI’s sales/distribution partners.
  • Troubleshoot any product complaints and in collaboration with balance of BRI team, push towards resolution in a timely manner. Work to ensure overall customer satisfaction with product performance as well as and subsequent products.
  • Maintain an up to date CRM database with key contacts from industry including influencers, customers, and prospects.

Strategic Duties

  • Advise the executive staff on projections and key customer targets.
  • Review financial reports, compare sales and income targets with projections against the reported figures and suggest improvements to projection methods and analyze any failings.
  • Analyze financial trends and any gaps in the market or potential opportunities.
  • Apprise executive staff of market trends and dynamics including but not limited to new competitors in specific areas, pricing pressure and new technology and trends which might impact sales and margins

Desired Qualifications: This position requires 5 to 7 years of experience in the animal nutrition/animal health industries, with experience in the poultry industry preferable. Experience in account management or sales including contract and distribution agreement negotiation. Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in animal science, business or related field. An advanced degree in animal nutrition or related field (Ph.D., M.S or DVM) is a plus. This position entails extensive travel (50-60%) including international travel to Asia, Latin America and other international regions.

Nutritionist

The primary focus of this position is to conduct research in nutrition and the growth and development of targeted farm animals and to serve as a resource to support our sales team and customers. The nutritionist initiates, conducts, interprets and reports research on major programs, platforms and projects. Generates new hypotheses and technical initiatives and develops these into research programs. Serves as the recognized company-wide in Animal Nutrition in their field (poultry, swine, dairy etc.). They also manage platforms and commercial interaction and/or major projects on a global level. – Must be willing to travel as required up to 25% of the time. Specific positions responsibilities include:

  • Communicate research findings to the scientific community, producers, and the public.
  • Conduct research and testing to improve products or processes.
  • Support commercial teams as a technical expert in nutrition, product performance and diets and formulation for existing products and for new product launches.
  • Provide technical support to sales staff and potential customers.
  • Research and development of new products.
  • Prepares reports of completed projects for publication in technical journals, for presentation to agency requesting project, or for use in further applied or theoretical research activities.

Education/Qualification/Background Requirements:

  • 3+ years prior technical management of projects required.
  • Advanced degree in Animal Nutrition, with Ph.D. preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in the field. Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Excellent knowledge of animal nutrition and current feed formulation optimization models & tools
  • Strong Project Management skills and discipline
  • Strong knowledge of business principals, commercialization of business opportunities, markets and key customers

  • Ability to develop plans for project and study guidelines for projects to outline research procedures to be followed.
  • Strong experience in experimental design and analysis
  • Effectively Plans schedule according to variety of methods to be used, availability and quantity of resources, and number of subordinate personnel assigned to participate in project.
  • Lead and conduct research, utilizing institution library, archives, and collections, and other sources of information, to collect, record, analyze, and evaluate facts.
  • Strong ability to discuss findings with other personnel to evaluate validity of findings.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills, especially in communications with customers relative to product performance as support for commercial activities.
  • Strong leadership, communication and people skills to enable cross-segment and cross-function interactions at all levels of the company
